EUROUZ Meets Deputy Chairman Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan
EUROUZ Secretary General Oybek Shaykhov met with Farrukh Karabaev, Deputy Chairman of the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee, to discuss potential cooperation. They focused on recent market reforms, legislative initiatives supporting fair competition, and improving communication with EUROUZ members. The discussion also covered potential collaboration between the State Committee and EUROUZ sector-specific committees, as well as enhancing engagement with European institutions and think tanks for better dialogue.
EUROUZ Joins Roundtable on New Digital Market Regulations in Uzbekistan
EUROUZ participated in a Roundtable on the new regulations for the digital market, organized by the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan. Zafar Vakhidov, Board Member of EUROUZ and Chairman of the Council of Antimonopoly Experts of Uzbekistan, also participated in the event. The event focused on explaining the new regulations, addressing the existing challenges in Uzbekistan's digital market, and identifying the problems these regulations aim to resolve. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A session.

EUROUZ Member PwC Collaborates with Uzbekistan Railways on $150M Modernization by 2033
Uzbekistan Railways will invest $150 million by 2033 to modernize its locomotive and carriage fleet. Plans include purchasing and upgrading 50 locomotives in stages, with no reliance on state-guaranteed loans. Additionally, $50 million will be allocated to reconstruct 70 passenger cars, and $70 million will go toward producing freight cars. The company aims to enhance its financial health, with corporate practices updated through collaboration with PwC.
EUROUZ Member Suez Partners in Building New Tashkent Wastewater Treatment Plant
A new sewage treatment facility will be constructed in the Kuyichirchik district of Tashkent, capable of processing 1 million cubic meters of wastewater daily, with plans to expand to 1.5 million cubic meters. The project, involving a consortium from the UAE, France, and Japan, aims to enhance sanitation for 1.5 million people across several districts. The facility will use advanced technologies like SCADA and GIS for efficient resource management, potentially saving over 10 million kW of electricity. This initiative is expected to improve sanitation services for over 500,000 citizens and 100 enterprises.

Uzbekistan and Latvia have discussed strengthening bilateral and inter-parliamentary ties. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of their relations, particularly focusing on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan. Latvian representatives praised Uzbekistan's political and socio-economic reforms, noting growing interest among Latvian companies in Uzbek partnerships. They expressed readiness to enhance trade and economic cooperation. An agreement was reached to organize a visit by Latvian Parliament members to Uzbekistan later this year.
Uzbekistan and Hungarian Firm Discuss Groundwater Management Projects
Uzbekistan and Hungarian company GeoGold Kárpátia are exploring new projects for efficient groundwater use. The company has been involved in hydrogeological projects in Uzbekistan, including the Namangan region. Discussions focused on future collaborations, with plans for meetings between the Hungarian firm and several Uzbek ministries and regional representatives. This initiative aims to improve groundwater management across various Uzbek regions.
Uzbekistan and the UK Boost Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation
Uzbekistan's Ambassador and a UK House of Lords member discussed expanding bilateral relations, praising Uzbekistan's political and economic reforms. Kazakhstan hosted the 6th Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia, emphasizing regional cooperation amidst global challenges. President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the progress made since the first summit in 2018, underscoring the importance of unity and collaboration. Leaders from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan participated, with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and a UN representative also attending as distinguished guests. The summit focused on developing a shared regional vision to address current global tensions.
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Sign $7 Billion Business Deals
