Uzbekistan Airways Expands Fleet with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners
Uzbekistan Airways and Boeing (EUROUZ members) have signed a firm contract for the delivery of 14 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with an additional 8 units secured as options. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2031. Since 2016, Uzbekistan Airways has remained the only operator of Dreamliner aircraft in Central Asia, and this new order further consolidates its position as a leading regional carrier.

The Asian Development Bank’s quarterly magazine Private Sector Perspectives highlights the partnership between ADB and UzMRC under the “Inclusive Mortgage Market Development Project.” In the feature, UzMRC CEO Murodjon Farmanov notes that the collaboration is helping expand access to affordable housing finance, particularly for low- and middle-income households, while improving transparency and sustainability in the mortgage system.

The Uzbekistan Mortgage Refinancing Company (UzMRC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to strengthen financial collaboration.
During the meeting, led by UzMRC CEO Murodjon Farmanov and EBRD Director for Financial Institutions in Central Asia George Orlov, the parties discussed UzMRC’s funding mechanisms, international cooperation, and mortgage market development.

Ahlers Logistics, a Belgian supply chain solutions provider with 30 years of presence in Central Asia, continues to enhancing its footprint in the region. In 2023, Ahlers successfully supported a leading heavy machinery manufacturer by launching a warehouse in Karaganda. Now, the company is launching a second facility in Almaty. The new warehouse adds 7,000 sqm (or 7,000 Euro-pallet positions) of premium storage capacity. Strategically located along the Almaty–Zhetygen highway, with direct rail connection, the site is designed to enhance cross-border logistics efficiency along the vital Western Europe–Western China corridor.
Charitable Initiative: EUROUZ Member, Toyota Uzbekistan Builds Water Treatment Plant in Chimbay
On September 26, 2025, Toyota Uzbekistan (Summit Motors Central Asia LLC), as part of its charitable initiative, supported the construction of a water treatment plant in the Toza Zhol mahalla in the city of Chimbay in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. More than 600 people gained access to clean drinking water. The schoolchildren were also given books and sweets.

The event underscored Uzbekistan’s inclusion in a global conversation on how science can inform approaches to reducing the harms of tobacco use. Omni™ addresses some of the most pressing questions about smokeless products, including their risks compared to cigarettes, the role of flavours, and concerns about underage access. It also highlights examples of countries that have successfully embraced Tobacco Harm Reduction. By compiling hundreds of independent studies alongside BAT’s own research, OmniTM highlights the scientific evidence and real-world example on the smokeless alternatives collected over a decade[1]. The platform underscores that the fastest route to a Smokeless World is through encouraging adult smokers who would otherwise continue to smoke to switch to scientifically substantiated, reduced-risk alternatives[2].

15 Years of EUROUZ Member, CLAAS Agro in Uzbekistan: New Production Facility Opened in Chirchik
CLAAS Agro is celebrating its 15th anniversary in Uzbekistan with the official opening of a new production facility in Chirchik, near Tashkent. EUROUZ Member, EBRD to Provide Up to US$17.5 Million to TCG for Cable Production Expansion
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) continues to support the development of green energy infrastructure in Uzbekistan and the country’s national decarbonization goals by financing Techno Cable Group (TCG), a company specializing in the production of copper and aluminum electrical cables for power systems and renewable energy projects.
TCG, which manufactures over 3,000 types of cables with various PVC insulation, will receive an EBRD loan of up to US$17.5 million to expand production capacity and ensure working capital.

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power has announced plans to increase its total energy production capacity in Uzbekistan from the current 3.5–4 GW to 10 GW, reinforcing its role as the country’s largest foreign energy investor. CEO Marco Arcelli confirmed that the company will prioritize the implementation of ongoing projects while assessing new areas with high energy demand.

Uzbekistan and Albania Deepen Political Dialogue and Economic Cooperation
On 23 September, during the UN High-Level Week in New York, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Albanian President Bajram Begaj to discuss prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation. The leaders emphasized the importance of developing mechanisms for political dialogue and intensifying collaboration across trade, investment, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
Uzbekistan and Latvia Advance Cooperation on Labor Migration
On 18 September, Deputy Foreign Minister Olimjon Abdullaev met with Latvian Ambassador Ģirts Jaunzems to review progress on labor migration cooperation following Uzbekistan’s delegation visit to Latvia earlier this year. The sides agreed to accelerate Latvia’s consideration of a draft intergovernmental labor migration agreement and to hold consular consultations between their foreign ministries to facilitate next steps.
UK to Expand Seasonal Work Quotas for Uzbek Migrants
Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency and Embassy in London held talks with the UK’s Association of Labour Providers (ALP) and the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA), resulting in a memorandum of cooperation on labor migration. The UK confirmed plans to increase seasonal worker quotas for Uzbek citizens in agriculture and other sectors, while ensuring organized recruitment and protection of workers’ rights. The agreement also foresees partnerships with additional seasonal operators, marking a new stage in bilateral labor cooperation.
Uzbekistan Expands Financial and Investment Partnerships in Germany
On 29 September 2025, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov attended the annual meeting of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers in Germany, where he held high-level talks with government officials, banks, and investors. The visit featured a Memorandum of Cooperation with Frankfurt Main Finance to support Uzbekistan’s financial sector development, negotiations with Deutsche Bank, and discussions with Vietnam’s First Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh on expanding economic ties. A joint forum with Franklin Templeton explored financing opportunities for the Uzbekistan National Investment Fund, while the Commerzbank forum “Growth Partner Uzbekistan – Strategy, Projects, Performance” highlighted new project financing mechanisms in energy, infrastructure, finance, and industrial production. The meetings underscored Uzbekistan’s drive to strengthen partnerships with leading European and global financial institutions.
1.2 CENTRAL ASIA, CAUCASUS & CIS
Prime Minister Aripov Attends CIS Heads of Government Meeting in Minsk
On 29 September 2025, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov led Uzbekistan’s delegation to the CIS Council of Heads of Government meeting in Minsk, attended by the heads of government of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and other member states. The agenda covered 15 key items on socio-economic development, digitalization, science and technology, and regional cooperation. Participants approved strategies on science and technology (2026–2035), digital transport corridors, and digital economy development, as well as agreements on forestry, construction pricing, nuclear energy, and locust prevention. The session also endorsed the CIS Economic Development Strategy (Phase II to 2030) and preparations for the Year of Health Protection in 2026. The next meeting will take place in Turkmenistan in the first half of 2026.
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Sign Memorandum on Telecommunications and Cybersecurity Cooperation
During ICT Week Uzbekistan 2025 in Tashkent, the Republican Center for Management of Telecommunications Networks of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan’s ATS Mediafon KZ signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to strengthen collaboration in telecommunications management, cybersecurity, and banking anti-fraud systems. The agreement provides for the exchange of expertise, joint project development, and coordinated efforts to enhance the reliability of telecom services while protecting users from fraud and unlawful transactions, reflecting the two countries’ commitment to advancing regional digital integration.

Russia’s New Ambassador Presents Credentials to Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister
Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov received copies of credentials from Alexey Yerkhov, the newly appointed Ambassador of Russia to Uzbekistan, marking the official start of his diplomatic mission. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on strengthening the Uzbekistan–Russia strategic partnership and alliance, with Saidov expressing hope for closer cooperation across all areas. Yerkhov succeeds Oleg Malginov, who had served as Russia’s ambassador since 2021.
Chinese Investors Propose Renewable Energy, Machinery, and Pharmaceutical Projects in Fergana
Governor Khayrullo Bozorov held talks with several Chinese delegations that proposed new investments in the Fergana region, including the construction of a wind power plant in Besharyk, production of solar panels, smart meters, and water technologies, and the establishment of a pharmaceutical cluster to manufacture over 130 types of medicines using local raw materials. Updates were also presented on the ongoing agricultural machinery plant in Kuvasay, while additional proposals covered the production of special machinery for construction, utilities, and firefighting. The initiatives highlight growing Chinese interest in advancing Fergana’s renewable energy, industrial, and healthcare sectors.
Uzbekistan Increases Gas Exports to China by 40% in 2025
According to data from the National Statistics Committee and Chinese customs, Uzbekistan boosted its natural gas exports to China by more than 40% in January–August 2025, reaching $563 million, while gas imports from Turkmenistan and Russia declined by 27.9% to $886 million. Despite the rise in exports, Uzbekistan imported more gas than it exported during the period, reflecting continued domestic supply challenges. Monthly figures showed exports peaking at over $105 million in April, before moderating in the summer months. China remains Uzbekistan’s primary gas export destination, with Russia and Turkmenistan still the top overall suppliers to the Chinese market.
